The boat will depart from Jones Beach Inlet with the American Flag on display and will go a minimum of three miles offshore where the Cremains (cremated remains) will be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean along with a wreath of flowers. A memorial prayer will be said by the Captain and the boat will make a “Circle of Remembrance” (The captain will circle the Cremains with the boat and then sound the boat's horn in remembrance of the deceased). The family will be notified prior to the day of the scattering. Within 30 days of the Burial at Sea Service, South Shore Sea Burials Inc. will provide you with a certificate of dissemination. The certificate is suitable for framing and will state the date, time, latitude, and longitude of the final resting place of your loved one’s Cremains. South Shore Sea Burials Inc. can accommodate viewings as the boat departs the Jones Beach Inlet from land.

South Shore Sea Burials Inc. will handle the filing of all required regulatory governmental documents relating to Burials at Sea.

Special requests such as music, lunch or video can be discussed during your consultation with one of our boat captain. All dates are subject to change due to weather and sea conditions.

South Shore Sea Burials fleet consists of 3 boats that can accommodate small to large groups. The Lady Josephine can carry up to 6 passengers, while our larger boats carry up to 100 passengers. The Family will travel aboard the boat as it carries the Cremains out to sea, and are invited to observe or participate in the Burial at Sea services.

Basic Fee: $395.00 for up to 6 passengers.

Larger Groups: Call for pricing on groups of 7 to 100 passengers.
